The amount of electricity used by the Gores in relation to other 20 room 8 bathroom houses in the area they live just isn't that important overall. Trying to get people to ignore the idea of global warming or the effects of mankind on the planet moves the debate from "the better good of man" and moved it to "Al Gore is an ass".

Okay, Al Gore is an ass. But let's talk about the movie, and the concept of global warming, which is way more important than his personal electricity bill.
Global Warming is real, but does man create it? Well, if you're Al Gore, and get a bunch of scientists and pay them really well, they all magically come to the same conclusion!

I'm so sick of this bullshit being fed to the American public and assholes like Gore preaching to the American public and condemning us while they consume unbelievable amounts of energy. God, fucking hippies, I'm like Cartman today, and I HATE FUCKING HIPPIES!

For Drudge to compare an 10,000 square foot early 20th century mansion, with security system including flood lights and cameras, and housing a Secret Service detail, no matter who the owner, with an "Average Household" is doing nothing but appealing to emotions rather than logic.

"The heart of Gore’s message is that the way to prevent the potential catastrophe global warming represents is for each of us to make a personal commitment to bring about lasting change—in our own lives, our communities and the world. According to the science Gore presents so expertly, the world has 10 years or less to turn things around before it is too late. But Gore sees that as a reason for urgency, not despair. "

I will commit, to buying a 10,000 sq ft mansion, and using lots of gas and energy. I will burn lots of jet fuel to fly in private jets to bring awareness to the cause of man made global warming. I will also buy a hybrid car. If everyone would do as Al and I, the world would get back on track.

Does the messenger believe what he is saying?

Either Gore doesn't believe the message, or worse, he believes he is causing potentially catastrophic harm, and does it anyway.

So, you are saying Russia, China, and France weren't making back door deals with Saddam? And you are saying that these countries were against us invading because they didn't think we should tell the Iraqi's how to govern themselves? I guess I do sound ignorant to you. Feel free to share your wisdom. I don't hate you for disagreeing with me. I won't even call you names, or try to label you. Sound good?
                      K. Good rules by the way. Well cutting our emissions in half might not affect the world right now, just like buring coal doesnt affect the climate right now. In the future however the effects are disaterous. The plan can't be one big move, it must be a very long series of subtle moves created by government intervention and policy.

As for saddam. What do you mean making back door deals? for oil im assuming, because its proven they didnt have weapons of mass destruction... they found none. The fact is that in a state of civil war the only form of gov that will work is a dictatorship, or they will get nothing accomplished. there are 3 vastly different beliefs in iraq Sunnis, kerds, and shi'ites. theyve been fighting for thousands of years. u must rule with force. I'll admit, I never saw his movie. Does he really suggest this in his movie?

What Mr. Gore has asked is that every family calculate their carbon footprint and try to reduce it as much as possible. Once they have done so, he then advocates that they purchase offsets, as the Gore?s do, to bring their footprint down to zero.

Where can we buy the offsets? How many of you guys that think Gore is the man, have done what he says and purchased these offsets? Just want to know where the average guy can get them, since we can do what we want as long as we buy these things.

It is the subtle (and not so subtle) moves created by government intervention that scare me. Would you consider 2257 a subtle move created by government intervention for the betterment of our children?

Yes, back door deals for oil. Hell the Russian intelligence agency is one of the ones that told us he had WMD's. Are you now saying that these countries didn't help us because they knew he didn't have WMD's, and not your earlier reason?

Anyway, you and I are not going to agree on this, I am certain. But, I am sure you are a fine fellow, and are probably cool to hang out with. I say this because I have this argument with cool people that I hang out with. We never make any ground.

No, we said they said that. If we went in for that purpose then what is our purpose now? What makes a back door deal anyway? the rest of the world deserves oil just as much as we do. The 2nd largest oil reserve in the world... Alberta Canada... was already bid on by the chinese and the canucks told them to fuck themselves because they know well end up with it one way or another. We could easily start a war in canada just as we did in iraq. Make a thread for this. My friends and i never get anywhere either politics gets rowdy always

Well, our primary purpose was regime change. Nobody likes to talk about that anymore. Saddam pretended like he had the WMD's if he didn't actually. If he had come clean, he could have stopped it. The build up to war took a year. Resolution 14.41, blah, blah, blah. But anyway, I am sure many agree with your opinion, and like I said, I am not going to convince you and I will not be convinced either. So rather than get into a endless loop, I will agree to disagree.

So called 'global warming' is a non-issue in the grand scheme of things, people should be more worried about loving their families and caring for those in society who need help.

According to that the average American household uses around 900kWh an average month, which by the rates down here would cost $65/month. Of course I happen to use up about 270 a month lol! Having no need for insulation, heating or air conditioning is indeed a good thing.
