Huge difference between 5400 and 7200 rpm... However, on a notebook it might not matter so much if you're just doing Outlook and IE. Whatever you do, buy your drive from NewEgg so you save the most $$$

Personally, I would pick the Hitachi and just make sure I'm backed up to an external drive because any HD, especially one in a notebook, is due to fail unexpectedly

I didn't even see that one. I would get the 7200 rpm 100gb drive over the 160gb drive if this was my everyday computer.

yes the main problem of the HDDs in the notebooks is the low RPMS (4200 or 5400)

but i readed some stories, that the HDDs with 7200 RPMS is too noisy...

I did buy this one yesterday
Samsung SpinPoint T166 500GB SATA2 16MB 7200RPM
for $176... So I think your's a little bit expensive.
