Dude HE KNEW THE STORM WAS COMING you fucking simpleton. He KNOWS his city is heavily populated with poor people. He knew damn fucking well that many of those people would not be able to leave of thier own free will. This is a person who thinks like the rest of these socialist liberals think. That the government is there to cradle you like a baby. No it was HIS job(and the Governor) to account for HIS citys poor population and he could have had thousands of them bused on CITY and SCHOOL buses BEFORE the storm hit.
Bus poor people where? to other than the superdome? which he did.
How many of the transportation workers left to get themeselves and their families out?, everyone was looking out for number one. The city needed help federal help in particular to even evac that many people in such a short time.
I like how Bush supporters like to blame anyone except thier king, follow the leader into a lake of fire.
I love socialists countries and cities like Amsterdam, Canada & Sweden they are ranked higher in the freedom catagory

The people who drive those busses most likely left town with their families.
I didn't see you in new orleans offering anyone a ride out of town.
There were free public busses running to the superdome from all over new orleans before the storm hit.

There will be plenty of time later to place blame. I'm certain there will be a major congressional investigation into this debacle, and everyone will get their chance to testify before congress so hopefully we can find out where the system broke down to ensure that it doesn't happen again.

After the storm hit all of the municipal resources were destroyed and we had no choice but to count on the feds to bring in what was needed.

Evacuate to where on their own? Then you'd just have 200,000 poor people somewhere else with the same problem no food, water, or shelter.
At the end of the day, the powers that be just said "forget about 'em". That's what really happened. They became a non-priority issue.

So people in Mississippi are dying of dehydration because of the beauracracy within FEMA. Is that the mayor's or the governor's fault?
The local government's job is to prepare, which was done as much as possible with the resources that were available.
FEMA's job is to respond after a disaster, and they have failed miserably.

This is the problem with 90% of the public.
The feds can't just ride in and do what they want.
The state has 100% control over what happens during
a disaster until they give it to the feds it's federal law.
The National Guard isn't under control of the President
within US Borders unless a state gives the president the authority
over them and as of this yesterday the state of LA didn't give
control of the Guard to FEMA.
The Governor in LA still hasn't given over this authority to the feds.
The Mayor and State didn't want to evacuate as you can see here:
