truth is you can get and stay very healthy if you eat right and exercise.
quality fresh fruits and vegetables need to be chosen well, but in the usa we can now get fresh all year long (lots of stuff coming in from mexico and south america)
tip: for raw food veggie type diet go to walmart and get microwave steamer---then buy veggies 2-3 times a week, cut up and steam each day with meals.
add chicken or fish and you eat very healthy, then start your day with oatmeal or other whole grains.
when you are hungry or need something sweet eat an apple or grapes or orange or pear, etc. avoid straight sugars which are "empty" calories.
it is possible to eat alot, feel full, get necessary nutrition, and still stay at the caloric level you need to not gain weight.
add exercise and keep a flat belly. add a bowflex and ride a bike 30 minutes/day, no smoking, take your vitamins and you can bang young beaver at an advanced age.
it is a lifestyle issue, not a "diet" issue. live a long time, have good habits, and eat lots of fruits and veggies with some lean protein each day.
