I dont see anything wrong with looting food and basic survival supplies when you are in that situation. Of course I would have evac'ed long before the shit hit the fan myself.

My basic supplies are big screen TV's, rolex watches, designer clothes, guns, cell phones, DVD players, computers, and some water and food.

If any of these basic supplies were available for free I would have to help myself.

no i would not have looted, but i would have tried to prepare myself better. but we are dealing in large part with people who have spent a lifetime on the government dole (welfare)---and we have created a fairly large culture of dependency due to lack of workfare programs in the USA.

it is desperate in NO right now. and the overwhelming thing i see is people (mostly black) who have been raised from infancy with an idea that someone (the government) needs to do something for them, because they live their daily lifes with handouts from someone else---and they are very angry that the government can't do anything for them very fast---so they do dumb shit like shoot at rescue helicopters, etc.

contrast that with even more devastating conditions after the asian tsunami.

the asian people are used to fending for themselves, and it is a an amazing contrast in human behavior.

Accordingly to yahoo if you are white you found it if you are black you looted so most of you would have FOUND food, some of the store owners down here have actually given the stuff away saying "live" or "survive" of course you do not see that on CNN or Fox. Other stores donated directly to shelters but they are now empty.
