My wife is one of the most generous and compassionate people I've ever met. Years before we met, when she was in her mid 20's - every sunday she would wake up early and make 50 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. She'd drive around the "homeless areas" in San Diego and hand them out to whomever she saw living on the street.
My wife had little money at the time but a lot of heart. It was not her responsibility to do what she did BUT it's her nature to be kind and help others.
We should generally be thankful to any person or country that lends a helping hand regardless of how much and what % per capita.

A question for those that think the total amount is the only important number. By your logic, the US is more genreous than any of the single small countries that donated more per capita. What if, hypothetically, all of Europe became one country and still donated the same amount of money.
