I don't think sponsors track things like the overall amount paid to a particular affiliate... well, ok, they track, but I doubt they have some alerts that notify them "webmaster Z" already made $100k with us, we should send him a a gift.

You know, that would be a good way to raise an affiliate programs level of service. Little things like this go a long way towards building trust and loyalty. Even just a congrats card.

Why does someone deserve a prize for sending X amount of traffic? Thats lame and I'd rather them just pay me more.

sure they do, I always get a cool toy when I pass 100k with a sponsor, then an even cooler gift when I pass 500k and a million mark...

It's actually a well used practice in the offline business world. Small gestures of recognition go a long way too solidifying a relationship with a client, customer or in this case an affiliate. You see the next time an affiliate has some extra traffic to throw at a program and it's it toss up as too which one gets the hits your program is more likely to get them.

you would think getting checks like clockwork of 100k total is enough to build trust and loyalty already. i dont need a card, i just need my checks on time.

Damn, I was pumped on crossing the 10k mark this week. (4 months).
Any of you guys using AAC also tried AFF? I've tried limited runs of AAC with horrible conversion rates when compared to AFF. Wondering if it's just a patch of bad luck, or if people have had similar experiences with the two.
Other question if someone can help, the stats page for AAC has a column on the left for the number of uniques. Is that the number of people who saw the ad, or the number who clicked the ad?
