    Possible early Cybernet drama?

So, it was announced that 2006 Cybernet was going to be held at Shelter Pointe in San Diego again, and that the rates for the rooms were going to be the same as they were in 2005.

A little birdie just informed me that Shelter Pointe, currently owned by Pacifica, is being sold to a new company by the name of Atlas.

Atlas is apparently big on breaking unions and employee benefits, and other such nonsense.

The question that immediately popped into my mind is that if Atlas purchases Shelter Pointe, will they be obligated to adhere to any agreements made by Pacifica?

    This could get interesting.

    Dad,

tbh i wasnt 2 fond of that hotel. I tipped so many of the workers to give me rides instead of walking. Plus my hairdryer didnt work .

You know what? I don't use hair dryers often, but I did try to use the one there, and mine didn't work either.

As far as the transportation thing goes, I think part of the deal was that there would be transportation sponsored next time.

Still, I wonder what happens if Atlas buys it, and decides to up the price by 100%?

Escrow is supposed to close in September at which time they will be having a mass layoff (or so I hear).

It was a glass one , I got it in Montreal. It was no big deal but I had to burn my incense from a coke can.

Sorry Baddog, I don't give a fuck what the hotel does, as long as they bring fresh towels and the housekeepers don't steal my bling they are ok by me.

dude arent you a lawyer or play one on tv?

contracts that are in place before a sale are usually adhered to when a company is sold, just like other things that are absorbed agreed ect.

what would atlas gain by cancelling a money making convention?

I love the way Cybernet is run, however, that hotel sucked. There are so many better venues in San Diego and they should really look to having it near the end of June, rather than the beginning.

I mention the time change, due to the famous "June Gloom".

                      Just my 2 cents.

Funny thing about the word "usually." And nothing says it would be canceled, I never said anything about that. I only asked if Atlas would be bound by it.

Considering the other contracts they are terminating with their employees, I don't know that room rates are going to be much of a concern.
