Look at it this way. You are telling someone who has had nothing their entire life, barely enough to put clothes on their back, that they can loot and take anything they want for free. As much as I disagree with it, it is human nature to take what we can get. Look at file sharing and how many people just download songs for free. Is that better because it is more of a white collar crime?
On the other hand, it is pathetic. Although some are grabbing food for survival, others are grabbing TV, jewelry and anything else they can grab of value. There is a reason people are grabbing boxes of diapers instead of baby food.
I agree with a point made earlier. We hear about people in poor neighborhoods complaining about no jobs or businesses in the area. Well now we see why.
