Should have waited for the new panasonic, the camera kicks major ass. I had the opportunity to play with it and cant wait to get one early next year. The sony is still a nice camera, im just not a fan of sony's cameras.

I hope they have it at CES in Jan. I have only been to NAB. Do you see any pro level cameras at CES or is it only consumer? Anybody?

We have been shooting with it for almost 6 months already, awsome stuff I'm telling you.

But as anything, as I'm sure you will, you really need to to study and practice to make the most out of it. Congrats Man :-)

i was there this year - just consumer stuff. boring. wouldn't waste my time again on that

CES is a must see if you can make it there, well worth the time. I found a few new distributors for my wholesale business. Hopefully this year i wont have a partner flake out on me during and after the show and come home with a hooker. Oh wait i dont have a partner anymore, thank god!!

I have the same camera... a tad bulky, but the quality is amazing. You will be pleased with your end product

Not slinging mud, just stating the facts. Take it as you will, but its better this way for both of us. I dont want to get into a pissing match with you, you know what you did and you know what people think of you and what you did it vegas. Your vegas ordeal is the standing joke with alot of the people who witnessed it, so im not sure who looks like the ass. A week doesnt go by without someone asking me about it, and i want to just put you and the ordeal behind me while i continue to build a successful studio and businesses.

It's funny how I'm the one that made the decision, for my own reasons, yet somehow you know the facts. The fact is, you should tell everyone the truth, just as I do when they ask. Tell them that we had creative differences and I felt the need to move onto something else with my life.

I really do not have any concern for "all my friends and business associates" because I can count on one hand the number of people who I no longer have contact with. My "friends" all talked to me and found out the truth. My true friends knew why I left before I told them. And ironically, they are still my friends. That fact that you would talk non stop to me about people who were not around, led me to believe that you were doind the same about me. And it appears that I was correct. I wish anyone you have dealings with the best of luck.

Trust me, I know how it feels to be around "friends" and have your partner be a laughing stock. It happened to me everywhere we went (rafting, NC, etc.) All of your "friends" know that they should take everything you say with a huge grain of salt. Ironically, these are the same "friends" of mine that you are referring.

Just for the record, I walked away from everything in order for you to continue to build the company and the studio. I walked away because I thought the company had some merit and wanted it to succeed. I just knew that I could not be a part of it with you. I spoke with Steve and Mike at length regarding this. And apparently, they have begun to feel the same why I do about you.

I knew you and I could not be partners anymore. There were too many issues that dated back 1.5 yrs before las vegas. Vegas was just the straw that broke the camels back. Realize that I could have pulled the lease on the studio and I'm not sure that you had the credit at the time to get a new lease. Realize that I did not stir any shit, hell I even told people to contact you for rentals and pictures. I just needed to get away from you. It was like a bad relationship, and I just needed to be done.

So if any of "my friends and business associates" that I lost want to know the truth email or ICQ me 263962432 and I will be happy to tell them the facts that led to my decision. Which I have come to the conclusion is one of the best decisions that I ever made.

So now, I am done. You can talk all you want. But as far as I am concerned, you are dead to me.

I hope you have fun editing that HDV. I have been using that camera for the past 9 months and dropouts are like 15 or 16 frames so you can't just "fix" a drop out.

Also, everything just takes longer to render and output.

What I have been doing is just downconverting to DV straight out of the camera and then editing in DV. Then if I ever really neeed a HD version I can come back and re-edit the HDV version.

However, I must admit I get better downconverts to DV from software like Vegas or Premeire Pro than I do straight out of the camera.

Also, make sure you really really test out that camera before you actually use it in a production. And make sure you watch the test footage on a big screen HDTV. The reason is because you absolutely cannot rely on monitoring the footage being shot via the LCD. You pretty much have to use a larger monitor or else you are going to have some out of focus shots that are not obvious until you watch it on a big HDTV.

I think in few years when everyone is distributing their movies on HD DVDS we will see lots of out of focus shots.

I did a shoot last week and my Sony HDV camera sat on the shelf while I shot with SD camera. The reason? Well, you can still get a much better picture quality with a good SD camera then you can with the HDV camreras. Sure, it will not be as high res but the overall picture quality will be higher.

Good things about the sony: Amazing image stabilization
Does not break. Takes a beating.
Cheap for what you get
Best LCD I have ever seen on a camera.

Bad things about he sony: Lousy ass focus assist. Peaking canot even be fucking seen unless you buy the pro verson and that is still not all that great.
The iris needs to be cranked hard in order to change exposure on the fly. You really need to turn it a lot in order to get a response.
