    Brainstorming session - mainstream business.

Today you installed internet access and you have $2000 in your pocket for investments. You know quite a lot about html, marketing, SEO and stuff. You want to open a little mainstream business. What business would that be?

    I start:
daily loto featuring some simple games like scratch cards.

knowing stuff will go a long way, for sure...

I'd build out a lead aggregation site for financial services, it's competitive for sure, but if you know what your doing there is easily room and payouts just go up and up. Especially for refinances.

$2000, eh? I'd set up a FREE dating site and make money on the upsells.

what are the most popular topics? just my few ideas that would be quite easy to collect info about:
                recipes
                hardware
                software
                gambling "secrets" site

But what about the topics? In porn, it's quite easy - we have niches, porno actor names, paysites names, etc... The keywords are quite obvious. But what about mainstream? I get that your idea is to go with SEO, but where?

There are plenty of companies in mainstream that offer SEO/PPC solutions just like in porn. Since that is my background I know quite a few, it's really all the same except the adult industry does it first =)

yea, well in mainstream you have "niches" too.....ofcourse if you have a domain about casinos you try and get linkbacks from other casino related sites. As for the keywords the overture keyword lookup tool is a good start

Ok, I think the good start would be to find a list of the most popular keywords.
