Reactions when you tell people you're in the adult business....

What is the reaction you get when you tell people you are in the adult business? Most of the time the reaction I get is positive, then they go on to say something like "There's alot of money in that business, huh?" like it need some kind of justification to be in the adult business.

I just tell them it is just like any other business, and that I know people that have failed and succeeded. It's just like any else, except we just happen to know our customers kinks. I finish by letting them know margins are higher in electronics or tires.

Younger ppl think it's cool, that there's tons of money involved, etc. Most of the time it's a positive reaction since I'm a female. They really don't know the boringness & monotony behind a lot of it. What I really can't stand is when they say something like " a webmaster? is that like dungeon master or something??"

So weird, I was JUST thinking of you like, twenty seconds ago, lol.

My family knows I promote and do behind the scenes adult work..they don't know I was ever content. Don't think I'll ever tell them that ~ I'll just deal with it if they find out. I'm old enough to make my own decisions, and I don't really care if I have their approval anymore.

Friends of course think it's cool. I find it funny that our friends in their early twenties always have to mention it to their friends when they introduce me, lol. People are always a bit surprised when they find a female in the biz end of the industry, I think.

I don't really care anymore if people think bad of me or not. I'm not on welfare or committing any crimes..I'm taking care of my family by myself because of porn, so it's ok in my book and if anyone criticizes me, I ask them if they'd like to support me. They always say no, so I tell them to mind their business about how I do it myself then.

The few people that I've ever told have responded positively. But they were all young adults.

Among older adults and generally in any other business environment, I shy away from anything 'adult' and instead say I work in the online industry or internet. I just dont think it would go over as well among that crowd.
