    has american culture slowly reverted back to the 1950s?

    our music sucks ass, with the exception of a handful of performers. everything on the radio is bubble-gum rock and pop and rap, from good charlotte to kelly clarkson to lil bow wow. censorship is forcing howard stern to go to paid programming and the rest of the disc jockeys are totally dull. the movies and sitcoms on TV are filled with propaganda and commercialization. there are no real ground-breaking movies out that push our imaginations at all.

    theres more examples of this all over the place, but those were just to name a few.

    or am i just smoking too much crack today

                      The 20th century was so fast paced, most of the music, movies, TV shows, books, etc. are now recycled plots. It's hard to be innovative anymore. Films that would have been considered cult movies are going to become popular.

                                                                                                                                  Anyway, remember that the box office is simply a commercial for the dvd and novelty items. They make less than 1/3 of their profits from the silver screen.
