I was VERY lucky and bought it back before the town exploded. In 6 years, it's gone up about 130% in appraised value. There are other adult biz folks around here who have had the same returns.
Right now I live at the end of a 4X4 road where 2 of us own all 6 of the lots so we'll be the only ones here, in a very secluded subdivision, but the town itself is just sprawling like crazy. I've been grabbing vacant lots to sell to the ATL retirees who are afraid to move to FL
Back to NC, my brother lives in Durham. He said there's a fine line between Durham and Raleigh with Raleigh being the higher end folks. Charlotte is like a mini-Atlanta to me and I hate Atlanta. The Outer Banks is my favorite place in NC, but that's almost VA and I only like to go off season. In case you can't tell, I'm not into crowded places to live
