Always remember that unless you want to use it for gas powered boats, if you own enough property and have a water source (stream, creek, etc.) you can make your own lake
The one I live on is about 7 acres with the water from the top of the mountain. Crystal clear. I can sit on my dock and see a 5 or 6 inch fish in the water (the HOA stocks it) 30-40 feet away
Here's one of my favorite pictures - it's the only time since I've lived here (6 years) where the whole lake had a layer of ice on it then it snowed:
You can see my fancy boat there too. It's an inboard/outboard - you can put the oars IN the boat of OUT of the boat
It's also being redone this summer - getting rid of the wood and putting in a floating fiberglass dock. More importantly, getting rid of those slats which block my view when I sit down
