Maybe we need a clarification of terms because I know zero about weight training. But having been a heart patient for more than 10 years, I do know that any form of cardio/aerobic exercise does not mean "rip it up on the treadmill".

True cardio/aerobic exercise, as opposed to anaerobic (exercising beyond the level for which you have enough available oxygen without your heart needing to pump excessively fast) is not simply a matter of avoiding the sudden short bursts of stress associated with weights for example. The whole exercise cycle should be lower key. If you take aerobic exercise to a level which is no longer aerobic, there may be other benefits, but from the heart-health point of view, to a large extent you are back in weight lifting territory.
