    Help ! Does your PC Case Fan Suck or Blow ?

    Ok my PC was making a lot of noise so i went out and bought a 80mm Case Fan assuming that the Heatsink Fan was causing all the noise,so now the Heat Sink fan is disconnected and the Case Fan is blowing out. Will this work? Or is it better if the case fan blows in?

      Not sure I fully understand what you did.

      I hope that you didn't disconnect the fan on top of your heat sink on the CPU and think that a case fan would be sufficient to cool down your processor. If you did you probably won't be able to respond to this because your computer will overheat and shut down.

      If you simply added a 80mm case fan to the back of your box it should be used to exhaust the hot air from inside. Ideally you should have a fan on the front of the box to suck in cool air.

          You need that processor fan or you will fry it.I have 2 little ones to exhaust the hot air and the main one sucks in the air

                  It is all about air flow across the motherboard. Draw air in the front, exhaust it out the back.

                  And yeah, processor fan is must-have.

                              Yikes..close call,i connected the heat sink fan back on and also have the case fan blowing out and now no more noise.

                                  Some of the larger heatsinks you can passively cool the CPU. Not worth trying unless you know what you're doing though.

                                  Some cases are "backwards" - they suck in the back and blow out the front. I think some Silverstone cases are like that?

                                  My Lian Li case uses a 120mm fan on the front and side and 80mm on the top and rear.

                                      This is the case i have, keeps everything nice and cool.

                                      2 big hard drive fans in front, exaust fan and a huge fan on the top.
