What made GFY great back then was simply this.
It was the first threaded board that webmasters opened their arms too and truly accepted.
Before GFY, Netpond had the boards everyone sent too. Prior to that, it was Ynot. All flat boards. I know back when GFY came out, I was very hesitant to move all of Netpond's boards to threaded, just didn't see it taking off. I was wrong.
GFY is a good board, no doubt, but doesn't hold a candle to Ynot when it comes to pure money making ideas. The difference of 5 years in this business is what seperates the multi millionaire program owners, and the gallery makers.

webmasters actually helped each other out, no fake drama, very little surfers, less satuation of programs (better conversions) cuz not everyone had their own programs lol ALOT less drive-by spamming, pretty much less of everything (in a good way.)

it all depends on the group that is posting at that time, i find GFY moves in alot of trends, when a certain group of people are posting i post less because i find them to be bigtime wannabes. but when there is a good core of oringal sounding posters GFY can be and is as great as ever.
