I tend to agree. Maybe I have cheap mentality but I just don't think it's very smart to spend that much on food even if you have a lot of money. I am thrifty by nature. I am also of the belief that "new money" doesn't know how to manage money as well as "old money".

Even if you are insanely rich if you manage money well you can have it last several generations instead of spending ... Lots of rich celebs are in bankruptcy because they don't know how to manage $$$ such as Toni Braxton, Mc Hammer....

Buying $100 meals is not gonna put anyone in the poorhouse, but it could be a sign of bad money managing, not knowing how to manage money wisely???

I'd say an average day is between $25-$30 for myself. I don't really see how I could cut that bill down either.

Everyone has their vices.. As for me, I am cheap when it comes to food, but then I'll spend $170 on a pair of jeans... so i guess it's your priorities that matters... So if eating is your hobby I guess go ahead...

Just remember you end up shitting it all out anyways

                  $7~10 for meal
                  $2.5 for cigarette
                  $3.5 for coffe and drink

so average working day is between $13 ~ $16 for myself.

what's the problem in spending $70 daily for food

let's say he makes $50k per month ( I think he even does more, but it doesnt matter, just an example ) and spends $2k per month on food - that's 1/25 of his monthly income

and then let's say you make $5k per month and spend $500 per month on food, now that's already 1/10 of your monthly earnings

I'd rather be him in that case :D

I dunno... I just get annoyed... because it reminds me of my bf and his spending habits... which sometimes involve my money... which is a completely different issue... but i don't want to think bout it now!!

actually you need to go out the the resturant
wait until your food is ready

I spend about $100+ a day on average (too rich to really care to count), that includes 3 or 4 drinks with lunch and 5 or 6 drinks with dinner.

Don't people usually spend 1-2 hours in a restaurant? Even when I'm in a hurry, a restaurant trip is still at least 1 hour.

If you REALLY wanted to save time, you would have a cook come in to your home and cook for you while you're still working.

Ouch, some of you spend 50$+ a day

                                      I'd say around 20-25$ a day, maximum 40$

Ah come on. Cooking at home rarely if ever takes 1-2 hours of work. I make the meals here and can say that on average it takes about 30 minutes average if you have to stove watch. Most baking and stuff is free time that you do not have to food babysit. Lots of meals also can be done in under 20 minutes.

Now I spend about 45 bucks every 6 days on food for two people. Sundays we always eat out for breakfast and lunch, sometimes dinner so thats like 60.00 or so for that day alone. Though it is my and my fiances one day we really can spend together.

Now I spend about 45 bucks every 6 days on food for two people. Sundays we always eat out for breakfast and lunch, sometimes dinner so thats like 60.00 or so for that day alone. Though it is my and my fiances one day we really can spend together.
I just read my post over again 3 different times and not one of those times did I find any point where I said cooking at home takes any amount of time. I see where I mentioned eating out takes time... but nope, nothing about cooking at home.

I'd guess between my wife and I we consume about 20-70 a day I know thats a big spread but sometimes we eat out and sometimes I cook.

Here in SoCal, I used to think eating out cost more but I added up the cost of dinner for three of us the other night (that I cooked at home) and it was about the price of a decent meal at a restaurant (especially since I use buy one get one coupons!)

Meat prices have gone through the roof. On the other hand, I drove through Carls Jr. the other day and bought a chicken sandwich meal and it was $7 bucks! What happened to five! Soon you won't get out without spending 10.

At most I buy one meal out per day. However I buy good stuff and cook on my own. I'm a great cook so it helps keep variety high and cost low.

I remember a time where I was so poor that I lived almost entirely off of free samples from Sams Club on the weekends.
