I'm not sure what pros a PO BOX has over a UPS Mailbox, but my biggest thing is that a UPS Store will call you when you have a package, they can sign for it too (PO Boxes don't allow this). Also, some companies won't mail to a po box for whatever reason. I also prefer UPS Boxes because they have the convenience of doing other services for you and leaving stuff for you in the box. Things like creating business cards, buying stamps, letters, etc., charging the credit card they have on file and leaving it for you in the mailbox so you can pick it up at your convenience. Add that with 24 hour access and photocopiers and other services on site and you'll never see me getting a PO BOX again.

from a financial standpoint, po boxes are tons cheaper than a ups store box.
for a small po box i was paying about $48/year. i just leased a ups store small box and paid $160/yr (and that was with 2 months free).
the ups store was closer to my house and it can take all types of shipments...which i liked. so if i can't be home to get a package, i can have it sent to my ups box.
POBox may not be able to receive Fedex, DHL, etc, but its much cheaper and you can do a forwarding of address when you leave it. Legally you are not able to do a forwarding of address from a UPS box or similiar. I can't imagine any wants a box forever, so it's usually a stepping stone which makes this a plus, and the costs of course are lower.
UPS Store is the shit! I don't even send mail through the ghetto ass, long line waiting, upset goverment worker, mutha fucking post office any more. When I go to the post office I leave upset. When I go to the UPS Store I leave happy!

Very well stated.
Looks like I am going to bite the bullet and put down a little extra money to get the UPS store box.
I would go with the UPS store. The post office is a bitch. Always a line, they move slow as shit. UPS store gives me a key to get in at night and there is never a line, and when there is, they have enough people to cover it.
Motherfuckers at the post office go to lunch..AT LUNCH TIME!
ISN"T THAT WHEN PEOPLE GO TO THE FUCKING POST OFFICE!!!
I like my mail being processed by people who make living wages and are bound by law to take care of my shit....I don't want checks being sent to an address where some joe blow college kid making 6 bucks an hour works. Plus a PO box is good if you need to move as I get all my mail forwarded down here with no problems.

are you receiving packages? if so, pick the UPS store. it's by far more expensive than a USPS PO box but at the same time the USPS won't accept deliveries from DHL, FedEx, or UPS which is a pain in the ass if you have something that won't fit in the small space they rent you for a nominal fee of $20 every 6 months or so. i loved my UPS Store box because i could get in 24/7 and it looked like a street mailing addy as opposed to "PO BOX xxxxx"
I've had a PacMail box for business for 15 or so years for the reasons mentioned: most places won't mail to P.O. boxes, there's someone there to accept packages that need a signature, 24 hours CONTROLLED access (you need a key to get in the door - no so with a P.O. box). I pay $142 a year for it. It's a business expense anyway
Any sponsors having problems senting cheques to p.o. boxes?
I'm guessing not.
But at the same time and if you're willing to spend the money, I don't think its a bad idea at all to go with the UPS store after seeing all of the benefits above.
Has anyone seen the TV ads that have been on lately?
Another benefit of the UPS store is the turnaround time to get a mailbox is about 10 min. While the post office had me waiting about 4 months. (Los Angeles)

Damn, that's terrible turnaround time for the PO box.
