West VS East, culture extremes clashing?

You know, recently I was thinking. Yeah it happens.

With the rise of the internet, porn, acceptance of poker as a sport, gays being on TV portrayed very positively, and many other things about the west that have become fairly acceptable, the bible/talmud/qur'an labels as pure sin.

Is this partially one of the reasons why things such as Islamic Fundamentalism has gained such momentum?

I see the west becoming more "extreme" in our lifestyles. How long before high school counsellors would recommend to a failing 18 year old girl to goto the Bangbros office?

How long before gambling is legalized everywhere? ( Just announced a huge vegas-style casino opening in the UK )

How long before gay people are opening the Church of Boyalley, complete with crosses made of pink dildos and instead of holy water, holy astroglide?

Ok, that one might be far out, but....

Doesn't it make sense that the reason why more extremism is being fostered in the world, is because there is more extremism on both sides of the fence?

To us, a person of a faith calling for death to america, is probably about as offensive as a slaphappy episode is to a fundamentalist. Then that fundamentalist ( christian, muslim, jew ) in turn rallies the justice department to crack down, thereby breeding more extremism on both sides of the fence.

Humankind has come so far in the last 50 years, we're changing at an unbelievable rate. I think to a lot of people, "freedom" is a fight to allow people to indulge in every "sin" imaginable.

Does this make sense to any of you? Or am I off my rocker?

I have no problem with gays being portrayed on TV or anything, but only recently this has happened. The whole idea is that by flaunting the gayness on TV, it just makes some religious people who were once on the fence about accepting gays, become much more hardline.

Ummmm it's not a battle between East and West.

It's all down to Islam. Since Allah has promised the Earth to the Muslims and has told them in the Qur'an that all infidels are 3rd class citizens and can be killed/ converted/ enslaved then that might be a clue as to what the problem is.

As Lazonby said, Islam is at war with everyone not Islam. India, Indonesia, Thailand, the Phillipines, Algeria. How western are these places? Yet the attacks roll on.

Hey man u obviously know nothing about that right? I've read several books about the crusades but the point is that the pope and some Europeian kings wanted to get the 'holy land'...u know why? Beacuse it was the 'holy land' !!!

Jerusalem for example was (is) the holy city of three religions(u know which three?) BEFORE the crusades all of them were free to choose. AFTER being occupied by the crusaders only one left.The other two were banned.(technicly murdered them) get the point?

It was long time ago and has nothin to do with nowadays...just to be exact ;)

I was saying modern extremism goes for any religion, but I suppose modern Islam breeds the most extremism right now. Then again, the west is the most "free" and the most "morally loose" it's ever been in history. Maybe the two are related is all I'm saying.

Take a look at the world. The 'Islamic world' to be more exact. The answer lies there. When opportunities for jihad are few and far between, Sunnis like nothing better to kill Ahmadiya and Shia and vice versa and so on. Since the penalty for apostacy (you'll need to look that word up) in Islam is death, any Muslim who is not deemed sufficiently Muslim is fair game.
