Without having to create brand new sites, an existing one can get a facelift or be totally revamped with the archives intact.

There are quite a few sites I would have promoted (and I have promoted some), but the last update date of sometime in early 2005 really turns me off. It's not the fact that there are no updates for the site that bugs me, it's the actual date of the last update.

Maybe just removing that date?

Unless a site is extremely small with little content, updates don't have to be daily, weekly or even monthly. It's very unlikely that a surfer will see the whole site as is with no updates in just a month. But still, 2 years is going a little overboard.

I'm not saying that a site should be killed completely if it never gets updated and no plans to update it in the future. Just remove it from the list of available sites to promote for webmasters along with all promo material for it. If its life span has come to an end, then just keep it live for existing members.
