What follows is something I wrote in response to messages on a board, and I decided to just copy it instead of rewriting it, as it is already a vaguely coherent account of what I want to say and also I really can't be bothered writing it again.

A lot of you seem quite confused by me, and that's understandable. In our society we are rarely confronted by people that blur gender lines, and when we are most people's natural reaction is to "normalise" it or try to ignore it. We are brought up to view the binaries of gender and sex as universal absolutes, and children who are born with ambiguities of sex are considered to have a terrible condition that will completely ruin their lives if not treated, and given unnecessary surgery at a time when consent is impossible. Often it is the surgery itself that ends up ruining their lives. The fact that we are all living in this climate means that I understand that people may be shocked by my pictures on Vegporn.

I was born physically female, and I was brought up as a girl. When I was 15 I decided I wanted to have a sex change, but because of the slackness of the NHS I didn't get an appointment for years. I started taking testosterone when I was 18. I always assumed that I would have at least chest surgery, but as the hormones changed me, both physically and psychologically, I decided that I really didn't need to go through the trauma of major surgery for something that would, ultimately, only be for other people's benefit. I am viewed totally as a boy in my everyday dealings (although I'm not particularly butch), and I have had my name changed and my passport has an "M" on it.

I decided to do Vegporn because I think it's important to show images of difference in gender and sex. As someone who is basically viewed by society as a man without a cock, trans men are highly desexualised in culture, as male sexuality is almost completely centered around the cock (conversely, trans women are often over sexualised, but that's a different matter). For ages I felt extremely unsexual and undesirable. Doing Vegporn was part of my way of reclaiming my sexuality. And I would also like to say that there are many people who find me sexy, especially my wonderful girlfriend Smile

Oh yeah, two things you should remember when discussing me (or anything like this);
1. I'm a real person with a real life, and
2. No one is making you look at these pictures (if you're offended by genderqueer bodies, what are you doing looking at vegporn pictures anyway?)

It's good to see people discussing things anyway, and I look really fucking popular on myspace Wink . If anyone wants to ask me more about myself feel free to drop me a line!

Extremely well put. While everyone here claims to support freedom of expression very few are willing to see that belief to its logical possibilities and accept those potentials without judgement impaired by cynical stereotypes, gender or otherwise. I applaud your sincerity, frankness, and acceptance of those that cannot comprehend uniqueness in any form.
