See the link i posted above about whyquit but i think i should tell my own story too:

I smoked heavily for around 5 years, and cut down for the next 2. After some serious stomach problems, aggravated IBS and psoriasis over my legs i decided to quit but found it hard. The IBS was just embarassing but the psoriasis was a pussy deterrent. For 3 years more i was a light smoker (10 cigarettes a week maybe) but things didnt improve.

My doctor told me it could be severe reaction that could lead to something dangerous, possibly ultimately throat cancer, stomach cancer or bowel cancer. Thats all i needed. I quit the next day.

After 10 years of smoking, i just quit and havent smoke since but I still have the same 10 pack silk cut in my car (with 5 cigarettes left in it) and no temptation to smoke them whatsoever (been clean for 3 years now). Ill probably chuck it away soon. My health problems have improved a lot since then and i feel way better about just about everything.

Just boils down to will power. If you wanna be a success in this or any industry you have to be a strong person otherwise you (to use a US phrase) will just suck all your life.
