Prehistoric Shark FOUND! GILF Found Inside! (pic)

    Prehistoric Shark Spotted Off Japan

    VIDEO:http://uncutvideo.aol.com/videos/a4b...c2f732840b6a9b

TOKYO, JAPAN (Reuters) - A shark with the ugly proportions of the pre-historic era has surfaced near Japan offering a rare view of this denizen of the deep.

The "Frilled Shark" is hardly ever seen because its habit is 600 metres or more below the ocean surface.

The creature's fear factor doesn't depend on it's color or shape or even it's size...

    or does it...?

Yes, it is real and it's not something out of a horror movie....even though it could star in a Jaws meets Jurassic Park sequel.

But it's not Hollywood cameras that shot this video......This species of prehistoric shark was filmed this week by marine park staff in Japan.

It's called a "Frilled Shark" and is very rarely seen alive because its natural habitat is some 600 metres or more under the sea.

But one lucky Japanese fisherman alerted marine officials that he had spotted what he said was an odd-looking eel-like creature with a mouthful of needle-sharp teeth.

Well, this 1.6 meter long female might have deadly dentures, but she never lived long enough to test her bite.

Truly a living fossil, she was in poor condition when park staff moved her to a seawater pool for observation, and died just hours later.

And the humans killed it. They should have left her alone and she would probably outlive all of us.

We are not worthy of this planet.

This was already posted a couple of days ago. She died because they normally live 2000 ft below sea level. She was close to the surface and with pressure differences etc it could survive.

It's truly astounding how amazing nature is... there is so many secrets of this earth we have yet to know... if we don't destroy it first!

That very argument means the exact opposite. That we are more worthy than anything else.

                    We prevail.

But im a fan of the general concept of evolution, and i dont know if you agree there (well your post very much insinuates that you dont, but i'd rather not jump to conclusions)

At any rate, its probably just semantics

                          haha so true.

Anyway, I'm in awe of the sea and it's gazillion creatures.

Anybody eat squid? I don't but they're small. Well there are also giant squid that live in the deep that has only been caught on camera alive recently. Before then only dead ones that washed ashore were spotted in recent times. It's a well known mythical creature feared by ancient sailors.

They can grow up to 20 meters long and they attack whales. Their jaws could crush your bones like a twig.

For a start ... if we'd not have interfered that Shark may have outlived us all ... that's nothing to do with us prevailing ... absolutely nothing.

And secondly, evolution has nothing to do with this Shark. Or humans prevailing.

Fact is... they killed it because they were dickheads who couldn't leave well alone.

The shark was out of its natural environment and probably went to the surface to die. There's a few species that when sick or old they'll leave their pack / environment either because they don't know what they're doing or it's an instinctual thing so as to attract predators away from the herd. And that thing looked pretty dazed when I watched the video - I don't think the people had much to do with its death. *shrug*
