When you die, you'll see oblivion, then you'll notice you're still thinking. At that point you'll realize you still exist. When that happens, I want an apology.Originally posted by polle54I laugh at people who believe in life after death

Dont worry you dont matter. There is no reason to continue on. Life is just another blip on the radar of the universe.

Your personality and what makes you "you" is all in your brain. It has been documented many times that people with head injuries develop completely different personalities and their old friends don't even know who they are anymore. Not to mention people who become mentally ill or get alzheimers.Originally posted by DarkJediWhen you die, you'll see oblivion, then you'll notice you're still thinking. Who you are is your brain and your body. Without it, you cease to exist. It doesn't make the slightest bit of sense to think this supposed personality, that exists in your mind only, will somehow transcend the barrier of life and death. It is man's ego that makes us believe this - we believe we are a superior, god-like creature, when really we're just an intelligent animal, who has the ability to imagine higher powers and comprehend our own mortality, which is both our strength and our downfall...Last edited by badmunchkin; 08-20-2005, 10:06 AM.Comment

That the spirit
hate all those bullshitters who are afraid to realize the truth.
Anyway if you live your life as if there wore an afterlife I think you would have a hard time making the best of it. It would take focus away from what is - here and now.
Death makes a great contrast to life, don't take that away with bullshit like that.
Infact if you didn't die life would lose all sense and fighting to get anywere would lose all sense.ICQ# 143561781Comment

There is no conclusive evidence of life after death. But there is no evidence of any sort against it. Soon enough you will know. So why fret about it?

Yeah, I belive in life after death.
I mean, why is it so hard to imagine. Do you really think
that it's all black when you die... ?
When you die you will probably wake up and
realize how meaningless some things is.
My belif is that when you are dead you will see
all things from a whole new angle that you cant
see now, you will realize that
life is really simple, people just make it complicated.
That's my theory.

how can evolution fail so harsh that you really believe this nonsense. you need to think of the human body as an organic organism... because thats ALL we are...Originally posted by maxjohanYeah, I belive in life after death.

if there is no life after death, you won't know.Originally posted by DarkJediIs anyone really that stupid?
if there is, rub it in then. Why laugh now?
You're taking the easy route knowing you can't be laughed at later.
You're either right, and if you're wrong, you won't know, cuz they're won't be anything after.Comment

The concept of afterlife is a pyschological crutch. When bad things happen to people we love it's much easier to believe we'll see them again some day than to believe they just don't exist any more. The same goes for the realization that we will simply not exist anymore.
Our energy esacapes into the energy around us, for sure. Laws of physics have proven energy doesn't just cease to exist. So in a way you "go on" but you definitely won't be conscious of that.Comment

I just laugh every day - makes the world a fun place and I sure as shooting dont have time to worry about "afterlife" - Im having too much fun in this one

how can you be so sure? we don't even know why we're on this earth, this universe - we have no idea how we got here. and until we know, it is ignorant to be definite about things like life after death.Originally posted by DonovanPhillipsThe concept of afterlife is a pyschological crutch. Thats the best argument you can come up with on whether something exists or not? Wow. Only a fool convinces himself something doesnt exist because he cannot see it.Comment

Unless you can prove that nothing exists, it still could possibly be true. Since no one will ever prove it, you can argue this all day and all night for the rest of your life until you get to that day in which you find out for yourself.Comment

Until someone can prove it, why should non-believers be criticized?
How come when we die we don't go back to what we were before we were born? i.e., non-existance?
Why do we have to have this Shanri-La of Heaven, the silly "punishment for bad people" Hell, etc, both of which are simply human inventions that allow everyone to sleep better at night.
Sure hope some sort of afterlife is true though. Too depressing to think that you'll never see anyone you've lost again, ever, once they die. A lot of people get through each day having faith that they'll be reunited with dead family members, etc, man that would sure be nice if true. But I'm not going to get my hopes up...

What do YOU think happens when you die? Honestly, think about it. To me its a scary thought to think we just "cease to exist" after death, thats depressing. I don't care if you believe in reincarnation, heaven or whatever but you gotta have faith in something. If all that we are living for is just this 70-80 years on Earth it would be pretty lame, its just too damn short.
