    Hostive, WTF is going on there ?

    I'v been trying to contact Bryan from Hostive for 3 days. ICQ, email, support ticket, telephone... Nothing. Both the website and support centre are down.
    We've ordered a dedicated server there..

    Anybody here knows how to contact him, or nows him at all ??

      My site is down. Mysql problems. And their hosting site hostive.com is having the same problems. I sent them an email, i am still waiting for the answer.

                                  I assure you this your gonna get a much nicer server there then a server that costs $1000

                                  if you dont want to lease it buy it outright and just pay rack space

                                      www.techiemedia.com has somthing like 15 full time techs now I get answers in minutes and I use thier tech support alot I am not technical at all!

                                                      I hope the guy is alright. Something must have happened bad for him to not
                                                      return calls and stuff... I hope the kid isnt in a ditch somewhere.... He is always

                                                                                      With every host you are going to have good and bad times. Trust me we've had them like everyone else. Like Spiltinfinity said Hostive (Bryan) is a great stand up guy who has gone way far out of his way to make sure we are taken care of. I am sure he will have a simple explanation as to why there were some issues. With every host you will have good and bad times. Before you go and bash the guy find out his reasons, and then if he just did not take care of it, then bash away.

I remember them having over 72 hours down a couple years ago, and many other outages. I am in no way bashing them, I actually like them and they are a great group of people, but they've had their issues, I just did a seach and found at least 15 threads asking why they were down.

                                                                                                  Same for isprime, natnet, jupiter and others. No one is perfect.

Also if you host with a 1 or 2 man operation you are just asking for trouble....stick with the established hosts and you will be better off in the long (and short) run.. I've been with www.techiemedia.com for like a year now, and I'm more than happy with them in all aspects, price, customer and tech support...man they treat me very well mate.

                                                                                                                          Even the best hard drives fail, the question is if you have backups how often and if they are on another server.

                                                                                                                          Also I think it's important if the hosting company is there to restore the back ups quickly for you.

                                                                                                                          As far as networks if you use Verio or Cogent then you just have to deal with downtime plain and simple.

                                                                                                                          Anyone that says they have 100% uptime is lying, if you have hundreds of servers a hard drive is going to crash and you will need time to restore the backups. Oh and for raid? It messes up more then hard drives crash.

                                                                                                                          Mission critical is having a staff 24 7 just to restore backups and optimize the servers. They have this for the CA Police database I know one of the head techs there. Raid is outdated, there are better ways to sinc the back ups now without the method itself causing so many problems. In fact they went down one for a alomst a week when raid currupted down to all 5 levels of backups.

                                                                                                                          He told me the story about how cops couldn't use there computers for the whole time.

But when I went to add some MYSQL scripts they would not work at all, Mike was cool and tried to help out but I was just tried of having to get them to fix them every week. So I moved to a new host.
