This will happen when .xxx becomes reality?

    By Polish_aristocrat:

Now imagine this - .xxx becomes introduced, at the beginning it gets almost no websites under it (the people who are registering .xxx will be domain speculators and companies pretecting their trademarks) but later the US Congress makes .xxx mandatory..... or ..for example... VISA buys ICM bullshit arguments about "responsible self-regulation" etc and they say "from January 2009 we are going to process adult sites only under .xxx".

Now imagine how much traffic you will lose if all the offices block .xxx by default...

Look at this chart (remove the space after http)

    http:// iffor.org/images/IFFOR_Org_Chart.gif

do you want such organisation to monitor your websites and tell you how to run your biz?
It's a serious situation to consider, and now is the time to do something about it! Email your comments to [email protected]

I would say at first there will be a huge influx of people trying to get the prime domains. Imagine getting sex.xxx or porn.xxx or even thehun.xxx it may not be worth much at first, but as .xxx grew it would increase in value.

If the government then made it mandatory that all porn be on .xxx domains the lawsuits would start. I would imagine adult.com was not a cheap domain to buy and Lens would not be happy if he didn't get adult.xxx and wasn't able to use adult.com

As for offices blocking it and cutting down on that traffic, I don't really think that's really a bad thing. We are a sales based business. Surfers are nice, but unless they eventually buy something they are really nothing more than a freeloader. People join porn sites to jerk-off to. I would imagine very few people jerk-off at work or in the library or other public places where there are computers. I would imagine very few people that surf from work actually buy porn memberships. I would bet you get more sales from 100 horny guys that live alone and have a computer in their apartment than 10,000 office workers who from time to time surf for porn on their lunch break.

I think that opposes basic marketing 101.

do you think you'll even have a chance to register such or any other prime .xxx names?

Does that mean that you just came back from 2015 and you were surfing the web and didn't notice any mandatory nor voluntary .xxx domain?

how about you get back to work.

Good point, I could imagine that they plan to auction off the popular names that aren't trademarks. The 70-75$ for a domain show that it's about money, so why settle with this price if someone will pay a few digits more !

I don't think an auction will take place.

                  http://www.gfy.com/showthread.php?t=....xxx+trademark

look up this thread, especially post number 7

as you see some companies already have trademarks for common terms in .xxx

apart from that there are the "adult industry players" who backed .xxx behind the scenes, they surely hope for some good domains

then there are the website owners, but with no trademarks.... and this could get confusing since both f.e bigtits.net, bigtits.com and bigtits.de and bigtits.co.uk owners could feel they have a right on bigtits.xxx

overall it will be (or = would be) a legal chaos

the ordinary webmaster could be lucky if he registered hotlesbiangirls.xxx but then again, at $75 per domain, not sure if it would be worth it
                  I don't use ICQ anymore.

I got one for you it becomes law whats to stop them from charging 1000 dollars per domain? Since it would be the domain you have to have to be in business.

.XXX works only if you can move your current .com, otherwise it's a scam to make money.
