            She was Northern Irelend Secretary in the late 90's..got down, knocked heads, told it straight, scared some of the men into working with her (not easy in a very male domnated area). She wore a wig because of her brain tumor but was cool enough to take it off on the Graham Norton show to show she could laugh at herself and take some of the stigma of having treatment away.

            A potted history of a unique woman that was truly respected by a large portion of the British public. Many list her as the one politican they actually liked.

                You are right...she was very popular and a breath of fresh air particularly in the deceit and lies that we see in British (and most countries) politics.
