There has been a few threads about the new consoles, so I thought I'd make another one. XBOX360 is getting out 5 months before PS3, and 100$ cheaper. By the time the ps3 is out, and the fact that XBOX will want to make more competition, its probably going to go another 50 or 100$ cheaper, making it 200 vs400$, not to mention most people will only buy one console, and the xbox is cheaper and getting out almost half a year sooner. I think SONY will lose big time to xbox this time, as far as money goes. Maybe the games will be better on ps3, but the average guy wont wait that long to pay twice the price. This is my logic, but I know its still too soon.

PS2 sold 5x as many consoles had a huge game library worldwide in comparison. Nobody can argue that the XBOX had slightly better graphics....but a lack of some key games and one of the world controllers ever just was too much to overcome.
It will be interesting with this new war. Its a bit of a role reversal...
XBOX has first mover advantage....and this time sony will be the 2nd to come out but with more powerful hardware. I just tend to think that those that owned a PS2 instead of XBOX (which is TON) ...will just be like..."new xbox...cool but when does ps3 come out).
The only thing that can mess it up for Sony in my opinion is if their system is not superior to xbox....then xbox's first mover advantage will blow them out of the water.
Microsoft did a great job...but they wont compete unless sony fucks up til the next generation (ps4...xbox720?

Once again, the xbox and playstation will be close enough in features that the only thing that will matter is the game library. If there hadn't been a Halo, there wouldn't even be an xbox360.

This time M$ stands a chance against sony and nintendo, but being first to market is just a part of it, on the US front it's a no brainer with halo 3 and EA sports titles and xbox live, but also they have secured a lot of launch titles, some of them even attractive for the Japanese market that has ignored the xbox completely in the past, they'll have ridge racer, lots of RPGs (one by akira toriyama/dragon ball) a nice osaka-designed case (seems like no big deal but it IS for the jap market) in short, LOTS of support from third party developers that will put out some good launch titles.Comment

the first console to launch in a generation has never won a console war. The turbographics 16, the sega saturn, and the sega dreamcast, are all prime examples.

I just bought Tiger Woods' PGA Tour 2005 and Outlaw Golf. Outlaw Golf is a fucking riot. Easy to play and awesome. PGATour is awesome also. But Spider-Man 2 just fuckin' blew me away. I cannot get enough of that game. I have all but maxed it out and I still have tons of shit to do. The game won't fucking end! It's my idea of a great game. I can't imagine what Spidey 3 will be like. Oddworld is another masterpiece but they went exclusive to XBox after twice on PS. I hated that shit and have boycotted that game line ever since.
