    Texas court bans deep linking

the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas found a website owner guilty of copyright infringement for linking to an another website's audio file without permission

Davis argued that he did not actually copy any material, he only provided a link to it which opened the material in a user's media player, but the court ruled that that link broke the law.

Good news ! Direct linking to audio files/pics/movies should be a big NO NO ! Why should anyone allow people to link directly to content and circumvent any advertising that pays for bandwidth ? If this guy had linked to the html page with the stream, everybody would be happy.

How will this apply to all the forums who post stolen content and claim they're not responsible because they're just providing links to it?

What? So people need to MARK content as being available, instead of properly protecting their files?
