No, that's not a problem. If someone can guess you security question then they can guess your password. The security question is actually more complex than the password if it is used correctly.

yea, but some people may not realize how it works, I'm sure there is at least one person using "what is my middle name?" or something lame like that, as the security question... it would take whole 20-30 guesses to bruteforce it...

Well, if you verify it, and it's incorrect.. how do they figure you'd then turn around and enter the correct one? And if you're so sure that what you are entering is right, and it's saying no... how exactly can you continue to step 2 when it won't show you a security question?

Yeah, basically.

It's really obvious if you pretend you forgot you user ID on the front page and click the "forgot user ID" link.

How long do you think they will leave the site like that?

No.

The problem is when a user forgot their user ID.
The form requires you to enter you User ID if you forgot it.

Now take a sec and think about that.

If you forgot your user ID then the form should ask you to enter you email address.
