What I do and may be an easy solution for you is to send your clicks through a domain or link redirection script. Then use those numbers to determine the raw number of clicks versus joins.
It serves another purpose as well. If a program goes down I just change the link once in the script and all the links going to it are automatically updated.
No more changing links on thousands of pages if a sponsor goes out.
