There is a lot to be said for having a mixed culture tho sure it can have it's conflicts. One of the best Caribbean islands is half French, half Dutch - St Maartin. You can have breakfast in a Dutch bar and drift over the the French side for an evening meal or some high fashion. St Maartin is *the* most friendly place I've ever been... Another plus is that the whole place is duty free.
