NameCheap not warning about domains about to expire?

Just noticed one of my domains expired earlier this month. Namecheap only sent a 30 day warning email, in the past they have always sent more emails when there was 15, 7, 3 and 1 days left, if I'm not mistaken. So with only one reminder early last month I totally forgot about it.

I logged into their site to see if there was any messages that didn't reach my email box, but there's just a bunch of whoisguard renewal notices there.

Is this how they operate now or did I just lucked out on some database issues?

they gave you warning so really its your own fault why not use the auto-renew option and this will not happen again

Who's fault is it is not the point, if it was, it would be their fault for starting sending only one 30 day notice and not warning everyone about the change. And what registrar sends only 1 warning anyway?

I only hope this was just a freak occurrence.
