Are you even aware that most of the gas price is made up of taxes? Not like the crude oil prices aren't skyrocketing, but the fact still remains that most of what you pay is TAXES.
Now, how about you go out and talk to your fellow citizens, form an interest group and start lobbying your governments so they put that fucking tax money to good use, like invest in alternative fuel research? Not like there aren't alternatives, but since the base for using them is close to non-existant (too expensive due to low consumption, too low consumption due to being too expensive), so at some point some action must be taken, in order to break this Mexican stand-off. The market itself will not do so very soon. Remember, the way you act, or don't, will most likely influence what you'll be paying for fuel tomorrow.
