I unfortunately cannot condone the death penalty but from what I understand child rapists suffer greatly inside prison (remember the one guy that got the little girl's name carved in his forehead?) so a life imprisonment should be a much better suited punishment than death anyways.
Think of it like this: They molest/rape a child. That child has to live his or her life with that knowledge essentially forever – that is, for the rest of his or her life he will remember what happened. Why give the guy/woman that did the crime such an easy way out when the child has to grow up into adulthood with the knowledge of what happened to them and presumably live out the rest of their lives with that forever locked in their head?
Make them, much like their child victims have to, ‘suffer’ for the rest of their lives in prison. Don’t give them an easy way out; don’t let death be their easy ticket out for the heinous crime that they committed.
