Why do Canadians seem to spend so much time complaining about the price of gas? It's not that expensive compared to much of the rest of the world.
Regular gas is about $2 CDN a litre in Europe right now.I post on GFY so that when people ask me what I do,
I can tell them that I work with the mentally retarded.Comment

You can walk to another country, it takes forever for us to drive to another city.. Big contrast.Originally posted by BRISKWhy do Canadians seem to spend so much time complaining about the price of gas? It's not that expensive compared to much of the rest of the world.

I did 50 Km to get a computer part Friday. In Europe, I would have been in a different country by then ... or not far.
And why does Brisk worry about our complaints ????I know that Asspimple is stoopid ... As he says, it is a FACT !

Exagerate much? Besides, the average Canadian doesn't spend their time driving around Canada, they're just driving around their own city like most other people around the world are.Originally posted by jactYou can walk to another country, it takes forever for us to drive to another city.. Yes, I drove in Europe. I travelled to Europe every 2 weeks for over 10 years.... OK kiddo.
Now, if you are in Cannes and drive 50 Kms, you are in Italy ( Ventimillia )...
Now go back to your cows....
And you obviously don't have the brains to read a post and detect sarcasm .... :

$1.03 here in Winnipeg, and have heard reports of a few places having it at $1.05.
We've never seen prices like this before, up until now the price of gas has been fluctuating in the .70 to .90+ cent range for a long long time. Of course you're going to talk about something when it jumps so quickly and so high.
And to us it IS high.
Good thing I bought a much more economical vehicle recently. :DPromote Wildmatch, ImLive, Sexier.com, and more!!

Cannes is in Europe, but your reasons for choosing it to support your posts is weak. The population of Cannes is only 70,000 people, obviously not exactly Paris, Berlin or Athens now is it? So why did you choose Cannes to use as an example? Could it be because it just happens to be near the border of another country?I post on GFY so that when people ask me what I do,

he was just making a point, that things are much closer in Europe compared to canada...if you're still not sure about that: Take a world map and look....you see, the whole Europe can pretty much fit into one of our territory/province...mmm my sig was too big... no more cool animation

well, having spent some time in Germany, I can tell you that Vancouver is laid out in such a sprawling way it's disgusting compared to frankfurt, cologne (dunno how to make the proper koln uumlaat stuff), berlin etc. Even the smaller cities like eppelheim and heidelberg where I stayed are not as sprawling as here.
For me to get groceries, I can't just walk half a block to the butcher, 2 blocks to the drink shop, hit the bakery on the way back on the other side of the road like we did in germany. Here, it's at least a 5 mins drive to the grocery store. There isn't a shop I can walk to in 5 mins.
My office is 25 mins away from my house. When I go to richmond to grab hardware it takes me 35 mins to get there... in Canada, you *need* to have a car to have a life of any sort. In Germany, we only jumped in the daewoo when it was raining or we were driving to another city.
Thing is, here, we have these giant inefficient cars. Or at least, most of us do. So, 60liters at $1.05/L just blows when you only get 400km per tank.
2 years ago, I was spending $100-150 per month in gas. Now, it's over $200 every month (I write it off for biz, so I have a good idea what I spend). To some people that $50ish extra per month is a lot of money.Comment

When we go to the city for whatever reason, we can easily put 400 KM on the van and burn 65L of gas doing so, and we only live in Oakville and we're only going to Toronto and running errands. Canada is definitely not designed to be walked.. Hell, public transportation can't get you between every point a and point b in the GTA without spending 4 - 5 hours on a bus, train, subway, taxi or ay combo of them all. You need to have a car to get around, it sucks.Free agentComment

Some things are closer, some things aren't. My point is that his point is pointless since Canadians aren't spending their time driving between Vancouver and Montreal anymore than Europeans are driving between Helsinki and Barcelona, they're just driving around their own city like everyone else in the world, except they're paying $2 CDN per litre to do it.Originally posted by SilverTabhe was just making a point, that things are much closer in Europe compared to canada...if you're still not sure about that: Take a world map and look....you see, the whole Europe can pretty much fit into one of our territory/province...I post on GFY so that when people ask me what I do,
