Ain't it funny how they declared a border emergency when word that citizens' groups were about to file massive lawsuits against New Mexico?

Same is gonna happen in AZ and Cali. I knew this shit would happen. All the lawyers needed was to finally realize the loopholes that would allow them to do it and then next thing you know they're declaring border emergencies etc.

"[It] is in an extreme state of disrepair and is inadequately funded or safeguarded to protect the lives and property of New Mexican citizens."

The move makes $750,000 in state emergency funds available to Dona Ana, Luna, Grant and Hidalgo counties.

Richardson pledged an additional $1 million in assistance for the area, his office said in a news release.

Richardson -- a Democrat who served in President Clinton's Cabinet -- criticized the "total inaction and lack of resources from the federal government and Congress" in helping protect his state's residents along the border."

Thank god we didn't listen to all the anti-war protesters and went into Iraq! So what if we don't have enough money or political pressure to patrol our borders correctly.... it's almost as if we can protect the borders from over there! I'm so glad I'm not one of those cRaZy liberals!

Good. The US barely has enough money to care for its own people, much less illegal immigrants. Legal immigrants are fine, I have no problem with them, as with refugee status. But people sneaking in under the wire.. that's a huge leak in any system.

Canada could certainly use a revamping of our immigration policy as well. Serious improvement on screen processes and easing of restrictions post-acceptance would be great... perhaps we would see fewer recently-new-canadian doctors driving cabs.
