I am currently in the middle of watching my third.
So far I have seen -
The circle (saw it in the cinema when I came out) - The best of three (so far) which follows the struggles of a series of women in the highly sexiest Iranian society. I found it a bit slow but have learned that is a bit of the natonial film style but nonetheless enjoyable and an insite into a society that I knew nothing at all about. I remember being a bit impressed they have Suave shampoo on their store shelves considering I can't even get that in London.
Secret Ballot - A bit of a chore for a while but after a bit I got to care a bit about the characters. It follows a female election agent that has to take a male security guard with her around the nomad areas getting people to fill in their election ballots on voting day. The dynamics of having a woman incharge of a man who really doesn't think she should be in charge is interesting as is the struggle she has to get people to vote.
Blackboards - This is the one I am watching at the moment. According to blockbuster it is "The story of Reeboir and Said, two nomadic teachers, living in the mountains of the Iran/Iraq border. They scour the area looking for pupils, carrying their blackboards on their backs.". So far I am getting into it..very different society and I like films that give me into a glimpse of lives I will never (thankfully) know.
I know this is a super long shot but I know there are other world cinema fans around here...any one have any other suggestions for this genre of world cinema?
