Think about it... the commercials, the transportation, the materials, the labor... it's not all free.

I think they take like 10% or something. It would be a scam if it was like 95%.

This is the reason i didnt give up the $. In the whole infomercial, they never said they were a non profit organization. So, someone has to be profiting from it.

Some give as little as 20% to the charities, and of that sometimes 80% is used up for administration costs. Yes that means you donate a buck, the charity gets twenty cents and of that sixteen cents goes to administration leaving four cents for the actual cause.
Not all are that way though, many actually only keep 10 to 20% for the administrative costs and the other 80% goes to the actual cause or the surplus funds for other causes. Generally most will disclaim this or tell you if you ask.
Do however be warned of those counter top change charities you see in stores, often they will have a piece of candy for a quarter or something or nothing at all. Many of these donate 10% or so to the cause and keep the other 90% as the cost of running it.

A combination of massive aid and heavy farm subsidies/price controls have seriously fucked over Africa. Economic stability and political stability go hand in hand..

I used to until I found out they skim a huge chunk of the donations right off the bat, then the corrupt governments takes their share and very little actually goes to those kids
