People sort of messed up when they coined the phrase "global warming". Think more "global climate change".
Few things I will point out.
A lot of southern California's water comes from Northern California, this water is stored in several lakes and reservoirs. The water in these is filled some by rainfall during the rainy season which is usually let out to maintain levels, the majority comes from the melting snow pack during the non rainy seasons which keeps them as near full as possible during peak usage. Our snow levels up here are shrinking.
I doubt anyone can really argue that the polar sheets are also melting at an extreme rate. This of course is not only leading to rising water levels, but it is also effecting the salinity of the oceans. This messes with the conveyor system. Not to mention the more ice that is loss the less it reflects and the faster the remaining ice melts.
This could go on and on, and no I have not yet watched this movie yet.
What us humans can hope for is a huge volcano going off in a major way, sure it will kill a lot of people but at the same time it should restore the polar ice caps.
