Well I have hardwood floors and my socks tend to get pretty dirty at the end of the day (unless I'm cleaning it daily). But no matter how I wash those fuckers, they always seem to maintain a grey tint on the bottom. Is there some secret to keeping them white like new?
How the fuck do you keep socks white?

We have hardwoods too. Same problem. Bleach eats holes in your clothes and they never come out as white as the commercials. Borax helps some.
Non chlorine bleach.. not a prayer.
Maybe new hardwoods are treated differently and don't dirty them the same way, but our house and floors are 100 years old and even refinished and cleaned, they still make our socks dingy.
It's hard to make everyone in the house wear slippers.
We have to buy a bag of socks every couple weeks at Target. Can't send the family out in ratty socks.Comment

I was buying new socks every couple weeks too. Was told to soak them overnight in hot water and either oxi-clean or dishwasher detergent. We have hardwoods too. Same problem. Bleach eats holes in your clothes and they never come out as white as the commercials. Borax helps some.

Old farmer's trick- use a dash of gasoline in your next laundry load. Works wonders with everything.Comment

The swifer mop thing works wonders.
Then for cleaning use straight bleach, and about a half cup white vinegar, and a regular scoop of detergent or oxy clean.
Otherwise invest in a few boxes of throw away booties.Comment

I buy new socks all the time,,,,with grey bottomsCarbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants
think about thatComment

In this house, if the laundry slut finds a hole in one, it's time to replace them all. Yes, all of them. I never run out of socks for dusting.Comment
