Maybe new hardwoods are treated differently and don't dirty them the same way, but our house and floors are 100 years old and even refinished and cleaned, they still make our socks dingy.

It's hard to make everyone in the house wear slippers.

We have to buy a bag of socks every couple weeks at Target. Can't send the family out in ratty socks.
I was buying new socks every couple weeks too. Was told to soak them overnight in hot water and either oxi-clean or dishwasher detergent.
