Personally I like the idea of some sort of annotation on the nicks for those who have been around since 2001. I think a persons longevity on the board has far greater significance than does a persons post count. Think about all the noobs with 10,000 or 20,000 "would you hit it" posts in 2 or 3 months.
Jesus, I've been here since 2001 and I don't even have 2,000 posts to the board. Some people just need to spend a little more time working and a little less time posting worthless bullshit to the board.
I think we were tied neck to neck to see who breaks 2k from 2001.
If you're stupid enough to take someone seriously based on their post count without considering their join date, you're an idiot. It's way too easy to boost post count by sig spotting & useless hit it threads. But I do like the color idea. Shows some respect for people who have supported GFY since the beginning.
~ 300+ FHGs, 100,000 pics to use plus a rockin' Video of the Day download! ~
The people who may succeed in business are those who concern themselves with the message and not the messenger. Most will never understand that, so it wouldn't make the slightest difference if "veterans" were highlighted in flashing day-glo pink.
And what the heck is "veteran status" supposed to signify? I don't recall too many innovations of the past 4 years having come from industry veterans and specific to this board, who do you think pushed it in the direction it has taken? Worthless posts are worthless posts, I don't care whether the author has been here 4 years or 4 days.
Post count doesn't mean jack shit... I like the color idea but hell... i've posted 600 times over the last 4 years here... maybe Paul Nash knows who I am??
As post count gets more and more useless in signifying the veteran status of GFY posters, I hereby petition to distinguish senior members by the color of their nick.
Those who have been on GFY since the very beginning (2001) should get a priviledged Red color on their nicks to stand out of the general masses.
Or make the current Lime color for old members only and let everyone else have regular yellow color.
Good idea. Let's put TexasDreams on that one next week.
oh, how neat. another way to show off how insignificant your worthless pathetic life really is. Maybe we should have KB make a nice press release for the color change too?
who cares about the color of your name?
im sick of people bumping threads from 2003/4 because they found it in search. time to set an autolock after 3 months
People that have been in business for 5+ years are generally more experienced and successfull.
so with that you mean that if u didnt join GFY in 01 you havent been in biz for more then 4 years?? I joined 03 and I have been in biz since 99 untill 03 I posted on other "big" boards instead......

I think what they're referring to is that the people who registered early have contributed to this board from the beginning.
You may have been in this biz for a long time but they're referring to the people who read and posted on this board and helped it grow from "another new webmaster board" to "THE webmaster board" that has more traffic than all the other boards combined now.
Sure it's silly and doesn't really mean anything but it's still some sort of recognition for the people that have made this board what it is. Almost all big message boards have some sort of "elite member" thingamadoo, why not GFY?
