Miami, anyone live there? or know about it?

I think miami is nice, I havent personally been there, but it seems like a nice place to live.
Is it expensive to live in a nice area in a nice place there?
Besides online income is getting a simple labour day job easy? (I dont make enough online to support my living habbits).

What part of town would be the best to live in for finding women, and well gotta have the beach and everything too, but I dont want to pay out the ass for a 5x5 shithole. Something decently nice.

Anyway for a Canadian to get US citizenship

florida is fuckin big you dont need to be in miami to easily get there. as one dood said ft. lauderdale (15-30 mins from miami depending on traffic) or a million other cities inbetween. if you want to be on the beach in miami (miami beach $$$) or on biscane bay its gonna cost you.

you could probably find a happy medium close to work and beach and 1-95 or turnpike. north dade, south ft laud area. more bang for the buck and 30 mins max to miami.

there is a gazillion jobs available if youre not completely lazy. im not sure what the citizenship requirements are for canuks.

Seems like its much harder then it should be for a Canadian to move to the states.

Been looking at phoenix and area too.
But its the fact that its hard for a canadian to move to the states that might limit.

Don't live in the city limits of any city in Florida. I was born and raised there and if commuting isn't an issue to you, don't live where people pay for shorter commutes.

You'd be much better off moving to a place like Panama if you want Miami's advantages and a much lower cost of living with a much higher quality of living.

Miami is a great place, but you have to be able to stand the heat, the traffic, the people. There is more than a TON of money to be made there, but you have to be willing to work at it.

I lived in Ft Luaderdale..20 minutes north. Spent a lot of time in Miami, clubbing, concerts, girls and such.
Freakin' Desert Storm fucked that up.
I loved it. I miss it. I will go back.

Too many cuban refugees, I thought California had been overrun by mexicans, Miami is worse just with cubans instead.

Lived there for 5 years and fucking hated it. Nobody wants to work i.e gas company, electic company, phone company. Everyone thinks they are on vacation. It's fucking corrupt. When I lived there the guy in charge of the port got sent to jail for embezzlement and when he got out they hired him as a consultant for the port authority.

It's legally a bi-lingual city, so people don't have to speak english. The summer is brutal. It's like 95 and 100% humidity and you can count on torrential rain between 3-4pm every day. I mean like the streets turn in to rivers for about an hour, your car gets flooded, and then it clears and gets back to 95.

Cockroaches the size of fucking rats. So many, that every 5 years you have to have your house completely covered in tarps and gassed. Probably the worst drivers on the planet.

Other than that it's great.

Haha thats a pretty accurate description, the low skilled workforce HAS to be the most lazy in the world, nobody gets fired, even places at bestbuy, where the workers at the registrar dont speak english and chat on their cellphones and not help anyone.

Oh, I almost forgot Overtown. You have to drive by it to get past the airport. It has one of the worst murder rates in the US.

The beaches are great even though they have to bring the sand in from somewhere else. You also better like reptiles cuz they are everywhere. Shit they even had a huge crock climb out of the ocean one year and come and sun itself on the 8th street beach.

I used to live in Miami. One of my favorite cities in the world. Hottest chicks are in South Beach and Aventura; both on the more expensive side as far as living expenses. Not sure about getting a job.

Heat? Yeah, it's hot. Get air conditioner. ;-)
Roaches? Never had any. Get on a good pest control plan.
Cubans? Sure, there are plenty. No problem with that myself.
