Good luck to you. I have Wet Macular Degeneration, I know what it's all about. I had to have 35% of the sight in my right eye lasered out to stop the progression. (They laser the blood vessels and the surrounding area caterizing them to stop the spread). Lost all my depth perception for about 6 months after, and a few other screwy things, but it's been 5 years now and no further problems yet. Your brain adjusts over time and you hardly notice it after awhile.
