    to you financial independent people

Just had a discussion with a friend.. if everything we have (cash and assets) is taken from us how long would it take us to get back where we are now?

Weve been thinking about putting ourselves _virtually_ rock bottom and see how long it will take to get back in business and create a stable backend.
Maybe something offline to make the challenge even bigger.?

If i took EVERYTHING from you leaving you with about 1000 dollars per month leftover from a techdayjob to spend on your new business how long would it take for you to be back on track?

I could start back up for under a $1000. I'd give up pretty much everything for a few months and sink all my time and what little $$$ there were into making more. I'd say I could do it within 4 mos.

If I lose EVERYTHING (money, stocks, gf stole my clothes even, PENNYLESS) tomorrow it will take me exactly 7 days to make at least $50K to start with. All I will need is a computer, internet connection, roof and food for 7 days. Damn I love the internet

          Ok maybe 14 days.

But that will never happen.. even if a nuclear attack happens, I still got gold (provided that I actually survive hehe)

bullshit, the best you can do is regenerate your income in 2 months... but there is no way you will rebuild all your assets in that time, unless you don't own anything of value right now...

I think I misunderstood the question. I was going on building my income back up again.

Apparently a whole bunch of people are no further along than a point they could reach from broke/scratch in a couple of months or even a few days. I guess if that makes sense to them...

                                    wow, tricky question.

knowing what i know now, i would say it would take me half the time to get to the same point i am at now.

if you're talking a complete clean slate, meaning not even being able to contact those you know, then i would say to get to the point i am at now, 3 years would be a safe guesstimate providing that the area i went into was lucrative.

a lot of time is spent on researching, trial and error. more time then one realizes.

if i was allowed to go back into the same area of expertise, i would dare say it would take about a year, year and a half to get to where i am now.

this is being realistic and working 18 hrs a day.

2 years and a lotta good luck.

The hardest part of rebuilding wealth in this day and age of rapid non-stop business change is most of us were at the right time in the right place to take advantage of pinpoint opportunities. These opportunities get saturated or displaced by new technology or methodology. So even with your mind resources and network still intact, you still need to be able to find or create the types of opportunities capable of creating significant wealth. Those don't happen all the time and usually come in waves. The guys that catch the waves first always get the longest ride. So that's the tricky part.

For the newbies to having lots of money now, I'll give you some critical things to watch out for and survival tips so you don't repeat mistakes I and others have made when you get money at a young age.

                                            1. Trust your gut instinct always.

                                            2. Don't let advisors take over the management of your wealth.

                                            3. Don't get into any investment or business you don't understand top to bottom.

                                            4. Diversify but don't over do it. Don't spread your base capital resources too thin.

                                            5. Always stash a good chunk away for the rainy days when nothing goes right.

                                            6. Don't let your friends and family take advantage of your wealth.

                                            7. Don't become ultra conservative. Calculated risk still pays off better than anything. You have to risk money to make money.

                                            8. Practice and condition your mind to being able to get by with no money. Sounds silly but if it ever happens and it almost always does if you're an entrepreneur of any substance, you'll be prepared for the stress and workout you have to deal with on a bounce back.

                                            9. Respect your money and it will respect you. Don't spend your wealth wrecklessly and foolishly to impress people.

                                            10. Be careful who you marry. The choice you make for a permenant relationship can be one of the best or worst of your entire life and will impact your finances like nothing else if you choose a bad partner.

                                            11. Don't hold business grudges. Get over it, write it off, and move on. You win some and you lose some. People rip you. You rip them. Its all just a game and if you take it too seriously you'll end up fucking up your head with negative non-productive and counter productive energy.

                                            12. If you lose it all, don't panic. Gather up all your resources and form a plan to get back on your feet. Don't be embarrassed. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Everyone I know with money has had a time when things got fucked up and they went either backwards or touched bottom. It happens to the biggest players, don't think it doesn't. Take care of your debts as best you can. People will respect you for the effort even if its not much.

                                            13. The secret to achieving peace of mind in life is to accept the fact that "ultimately nothing matters". You come into this world butt naked with nothing and you will leave butt naked with nothing. That's the irony of life. So if you lose it all, big deal, pick yourself and do it again. The thrill is in the ride to the top anyway. Sitting at the top is not as much fun. If you accept this philosophy then nothing can get you down as much as it could. Its all bullshit at the end of the line when you move on to the next existence.

                                            John Gotti had a great quote he'd say about being sent to prison for the rest of his life;

"It's all about mind over matter, if you don't mind, it don't matter."

depends how "on track" you mean.. i'd say 2-3 years.. probably more if i was trying different stuff.. i guarantee at least 80% of it would fail unless all i'd really be doing is swapping the types of pics in sites i'd be doing.

I would say at least 2 years yes. 5 years of knowledge in something means shit if you Loose everything, contacts etc.
