No, but worth looking into... I'd be willing to bet a monthly rate at a resort would be cheaper than living in Calgary right now.

haha i used to live in calgary
houses are stupidly expensive now...way over inflated, calgary has so much land to develop but the city is restricting development to keep demand up. Not like vancover where high house prices are justified because we simply dont have anymore land

Depends on the season. If it's during off peak, they always make deals

Depends on the country, in non-western places like Asia it's common practice.

I went to Cancun a couple weeks ago, great place. Once you get there I imagine you could just shop around and make deals at the resorts themselves. Spring break is comming up soon, would be awsome to be around for it.. but probably alot harder to get a room.

They do it everywhere. It all matters on whether they think they'll be able to sell your room at full price. They'd much have a room rented for 25% off then they would have it sit empty. Hotels and resorts are the same thing when it comes to this. If you are staying more than a week somewhere and you're paying the published rate, then you suck at negotiating.

Actually, I'm about to rent one annually. I am flying on the 12th (and will stay until the 17th) to check suitability, and then make the deal. Only annoyance is it has to ALL be paid up-front. It's going to be a hell of a check to write.
