Let that be a lesson - cancer sticks can get you even if you quit smoking 20 years earlier as PJ reportedly did.
At least ABC already had replacements reading his teleprompter for the past four months or so since he left the air, so the people too lazy to read news more in depth, or who actually believe what the mainstream corporate TV news sources report can still be filled with their daily dose of "news".
Don't get me wrong, I thought Peter Jennings was telegenic and able to appear nice and civil while reading encapsulated news stories on a nightly basis.
I can, and do, read a lot more in 30 minutes than the nightly news dishes out, and from a much broader array of sources. Actually I spend a few hours a day combing through various news outlets in a silly quest to understand what is going on in the world.
Anyway, I'm saddened when practically anyone dies, because I can empathize with the impact his passing has on his family and the people he touched.
Therefore, RIP Peter Jennings.

He did quit smoking a number of years ago but that is just it - smokers never realize that the damage may already be done before the day comes that you want to quit.Comment

why are people only saying he quit, but leaving out that he picked the habit back up and started smoking after 9/11 and thats why he died?
he didnt die because he quit smoking 20 years ago. he died because he STARTED SMOKING AGAIN!
he shouldnt have started smoking!
